Information and Documentation Services link effectively AYJNISHD and its beneficiaries directly and indirectly. It’s objectives are acquisition, assimilation and dissemination of information to individuals and organisations working in the area of the hearing impairment.
Computer Centre facilitates computerization process by initiating development of software needed for activities of the Institute, identifying and recommending suitable ready made software packages, recommending suitable hardware, coordinating internet services and hardware maintenance services, providing training to staff as and when needed and providing help and support in data processing work. Internet service has been made available to students in library & hostel and for staff in their departments.
The institute is maintaining a website – www.ayjnihh.nic.in. It provides a world of exhaustive information on speech and hearing impairment and rehabilitation. Having links with other unique websites, it has general and particular information about various aspects of early identification, prevention, diagnosis, intervention and assistance to persons with hearing impairment and their families in terms of rehabilitation. News and event details are frequently being updated in the website.
The benefits of services offered by Government and Non–Government organisations towards the rehabilitation of persons are not being fully availed by the target group due to lack of awareness among the persons with disabilities and the community. Therefore, “Disability Line” an IVRS based telephonic information service system in English, Hindi & regional language of respective state is accessible by a local call has been set up in seven states. This enables public to have easy access to information regarding disabilities and to avail the benefits/services offered which would facilitate meaningful rehabilitation. Our Library is a comprehensive repository of literature in various media on all aspects such as social, psychological, educational, medical etc. and allied fields of Hearing Science/deafness/audiology/otology/hearing handicapped/– impaired, speech and language disorders, non verbal communication, sign language, communication disorders, etc. Acquisition, assimilation and dissemination of information to individuals and organizations/institutions working in these areas on ongoing basis is a major activity of the Library.
Card Catalogue cabinet behind issue/return counter near southern windows, having cards in alphabetical order with three sequences Author, title, subject, giving detail information about reading material available in the library incl. number of copies, if more than one and edition, if other than first. Separate card for different edition of same book, but same card for same edition of book having multiple copies. These cards indicates address of reading material in left hand top corner and more than one number below it indicates number of copies of that reading material as well as useful to know whether the reading material is issued.
