ALI YAVAR JUNG NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF SPEECH AND HEARING DISABILITIES (DIVYANGJAN) MEMORANDUM OF ASSOCIATION AND RULES AND REGULATIONS MEMORANDUM OF ASSOCIATION

1. Name of the Society:

1.1. The name of the Society shall be "Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities (Divyangjan)".

2. The registered office of the Society shall be situated in the Union Territory of Delhi and at present it is at the following address:
"Ministry of Social Welfare, Shastri Bhavan, 'A' Wing, New Delhi."

3. Aims and Objects of the Society:

The aims and objects for which this Society is established are as under:

  1. To conduct, sponsor, co-ordinate or subsidize research into all aspects of the education and rehabilitation of the hearing handicapped.
  2. To undertake, sponsor, co-ordinate or subsidize research into biomedical engineering leading to the effective evaluation of aids or suitable surgical or medical procedure or the development of new aids.
  3. To undertake or sponsor the training of trainees and teachers, employment of officers, psychologists, vocational counselors and such other personnel as may be deemed necessary by the Institute for promoting the education, training or rehabilitation of the hearing handicapped.
  4. To distribute or promote or subsidize the manufacture of prototypes and distribution of any or all aids designed to promote any aspects of the education, rehabilitation of therapy of the hearing handicapped.

3.1. For the realization of its objectives, the Institute will undertake

  1. To establish, administer, manage or take over or subsidize the management and administration of schools, training centres, workshops or any other activity the Institute considers essential or desirable for applied or fundamental research in any aspect of the education and rehabilitation of the hearing handicapped.
  2. To undertake, promote or subsidize the production and distribution of literature, test such as educational or rehabilitation test or other Instruction materials concerning the education and rehabilitation of the hearing handicapped.
  3. To operate any national or regional level services for the education and rehabilitation of the hearing handicapped.
  4. To conduct examinations and award diplomas and certificates for the courses conducted by it.
  5. To serve as a clearing house of information on the education and rehabilitation of the hearing handicapped.
  6. To collaborate with other institutions having similar objects in this country or abroad, through the exchange of literature, experts, equipment or in any other manner the institute considers appropriate.
  7. To promote the integration of hearing handicapped children in schools and adults in society in general.
  8. To undertake, sponsor, co-ordinate or subsidize experimental programmes for the education, training and rehabilitation of hearing handicapped children and adults with associated disorders.
  9. To undertake, sponsor, co-ordinate or subsidize parent or other public education programmes.
  10. To offer technical assistance to individuals or organizations in developing research projects or establishing institutional or non-institutional programmes for the education, training and rehabilitation of the hearing handicapped.
  11. To organize, co-ordinate or support financially or otherwise centres providing documentation on all aspects of the education, training and rehabilitation of the hearing handicapped.
  12. To organize, sponsor and finance seminars, workshops; study circles, working groups and conferences for promoting and utilization of research in the education, training and rehabilitation of the hearing handicapped.
  13. To undertake, sponsor or financially assist the production writing or publication of books, pamphlets, films, slide-tapes other material bearing on the education, training and rehabilitation of the hearing handicapped.
  14. To advise the Govt. of India on such matters concerning the education, training and rehabilitation of the hearing handicapped as may be referred to it.
  15. To do such all other lawful deeds as are conducive or incidental to the attainment of the objects of the Institute.

4. Executive Council:

4.1. The names, addresses, occupations and designations of the present members of the Executive Council to whom the management of the affairs of the Institute is entrusted as required under Section 2 of the Societies Registration Act XXI, 1860 and according to the rules of the Institute are as follow:
